Ed Masters

“My name is Ed Masters, I’m a kiwi joker who loves to ride his bike. I’ve been riding and racing for almost 20 years and I’m having as much fun today as when it all started out for me. What started as a dream has become a reality it’s something that I’m really proud of and also really grateful for. Mountain biking has given me so many friendships, experiences and laughs and it’s my goal to continue having fun and inspiring people to get out on two wheels.

Off the Bike Hobbies: Online Poker

Favorite Trail: Coronet Peak DH into Rude Rock into Hot Rod. Queenstown, NZ

Favorite Bike:

Switchblade – It’s the Swiss army knife of the Pivot range for me. Honestly it’s just so much fun to ride, its slightly shorter travel means it gives it back to ya and I love taking it on terrain that’s probably a bit much for a 142mm because I know it can handle it. It’s a lot of fun to throw around on jumps and it’s the bike that I find myself on the most. It’s my daily driver.

Matt Walker

Hi, I’m Matt Walker from a small town in New Zealand. I ride for the Pivot Factory team on the Crankworx, Downhill World Cup and Enduro World Series circuits! Racing is a huge part of my life and who I am, but I’m always inspired by those who are enjoying what they are doing, regardless of what it is. If you are stoked then I’m stoked. We all start riding for the fun so I think it’s important to make sure you always try to find that fun and keep those levels up, whether it’s who you ride with, where you ride, progressing or even just scaring yourself, if you find it fun, do it and do it a lot!

The new Firebird is such an awesome bike. It pedals really well and is super efficient on any kind of trails. You can really pump and gain speed on flatter trails and it makes me feel totally confident to push on rougher and steeper trails. It’s fun to ride and fast to race. The perfect bike for me!

Alyssa Gonzalez is an athlete, advocate and designer who is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion in the outdoors. She lives on the ancestral lands of the Arapahoe, Cheyenne and Ute people colonized as Boulder, CO and works for Outside Inc. as a Product Designer. She grew up running track and field and was a Division 1 400 meter hurdler for Iowa State University. In 2016, she moved to Colorado to pursue her Master’s Degree and after seeing and adventuring in mountains for the first time, fell in love with the outdoors. Despite being new to biking, she is extremely active in the space. She started mountain biking and gravel biking in the summer of 2021and is extremely involved in her local cycling community, focusing on getting more women and women of color into the sport.

Alyssa is a firm believer that the outdoors is for everyone — no matter their age, race, ability, body type, gender, sexual orientation and economic status. She works with brands, organizations, groups and people to help break down and eliminate barriers for women of color and underrepresented athletes in cycling and snow sports. Through her work she aims to provide people in the outdoors with new perspectives, experiences and opportunities through education, community, connection and sharing her story as a mixed race athlete. She loves to introduce the joy of cycling and skiing to people and help redefine who people think an “outdoors athlete” is.

Some of Alyssa’s favorite things apart from biking are: her two cats, speciality coffee, houseplants, live music, the desert, getting new tattoos and traveling.

Chloe Woodruff

Chloe is a recent retiree from the highest level of cross-country racing,

after nearly 15 years of pursuing that ‘perfect’ race. She paved her own path in the sport, founding a domestic power-house team, the Stan’s Pivot Pro Team. In time, she discovered her own motivation in sport had little to do with her own desire to win, but her belief that riding bikes can change lives. For Chloe, racing became an expression of that as she untapped her own potential to become an Olympian and World Cup winner.

For 2022, Chloe will undertake new professional challenges as the Program Director for the Arizona Cycling Association, while also riding for Construction Zone Racing at regional events. While she experienced a difficult 2021 race season, she’s eager to share her passion for the sport with others.

Chloe earned a degree in Community Health from the University of Arizona. She’s a stubborn transportation advocate who believes in ‘riding to your ride’ whenever possible and shares her home in Tempe, Ariz. with a spirited female dog named Hank.

Pivot Mach 4 SL because it’s nimble enough for a small rider like myself, and can absolutely crush it on a wide variety of trails and terrain.

Kialani Hines

I started my path on bikes at the BMX track, age 8. BMX had me hook straight away, so much so I went to compete throughout the US and Canada for 10 years. Mountain biking came into my life the year I decided I wanted to quit BMX Racing, 2015. Though I had rode bikes my whole life mountain biking was completely new! There was much more to explore and learn. Where BMX seemed to be a never ending cycle of the same thing, Mountain biking showed me that biking can be full of endless opportunity and growth. In 2016 coming off a broken collar bone from my final race in BMX, I decided to jump straight into mountain bike racing, first competing in the US Pro GRT circuit.

I loved it so much that 2017 I went Pro for the first time in my biking career! Since it has been a journey traveling the world and doing what I love to do with Pivot Cycles. Fun fact Pivot was my first Frame sponsor in mountain biking and I have been with them since 2019. They have supported my success and dreams so far and I look forward to the next few years!

Kialani Hines

Hometown: Burien, WA

Disciplines: Pump Track, Dual Slalom, Air Downhill & Downhill

Favorite Trail: I enjoyed the trails on a Heli Bike ride I did in New Zealand at the end of 2021. The ride looped many trails together to name a few… Rude Rock, Beached As and a fun trail back into Queenstown from the McGazza table memorial at the top of the Fern Hill loop.

Favorite Bike:

Mach 5.5 – Still a favorite of mine. As a someone who excels in Slalom, having a bike that can ride/handle all different styles of slalom tracks is important. The Mach 5.5 is light enough to move the bike as if I am racing a BMX track. Though it has enough travel and sturdiness to handle the speed and flat corners that comes with proper slalom racing. Besides racing slalom the Mach 5.5 is such a fun trail bike, especially where I am based now in southern California. It’s a great everyday trail riding sort of bike. You can’t go wrong with a 27.5 trail bike in your life!

Switchblade. It’s the perfect bike for most of the all mountain riding I do. I definitely find myself reaching for this bike more often than others. Not only does it climb technical terrain like a goat, when you turn it downhill it descends like a dream!
